App Notification Counters – Enterprise Home Menu

Free add-on that puts the notification badges on the Odoo Enterprise home menu tiles.

This is the Enterprise half of App Notification Counters. On Odoo Community the badges appear in the apps dropdown; Enterprise replaces that dropdown with the full-screen home menu, so the tiles need patching separately.

Install this alongside the main app and every home menu tile carries its counter. There is nothing to configure here: the rules, the counting and the systray all live in the main app.

What It Does

Badges On The Home Menu

Enterprise replaces the apps dropdown with the full-screen home menu. This add-on puts the counters on those tiles, where you actually look for your apps.

Installs Itself

Nothing to configure. With Odoo Enterprise and the main app both present, this module activates on its own and stays out of Community databases.

It is half of a feature rather than a product. Everything it needs -- the rules, the counting, the systray -- lives in the main app.

How it works

  1. Install App Notification Counters and set up your rules there.
  2. Add this add-on to the same database.
  3. It activates by itself: no menu, no settings, no configuration.
  4. Home menu tiles now show the same counters as the rest of the interface.
  5. Clicking a tile clears exactly what clicking the app elsewhere would.

Why is this a separate app?

Because it cannot live in the main one. Its code extends the Enterprise home menu component, which does not exist on Community: bundling it would break the interface for every Community user. Odoo splits its own modules the same way. Keeping it separate, and free, means the main app installs cleanly on both editions and nobody pays twice.
